« on: December 18, 2008, 10:55:38 AM »

Hi guys,

Got a grand cherokee 2000 4.7 v8. the abs light is constantly on. had the abs system checked out and everything is fine there. i have been told that this problem is somehow related to using the speed cruise. can anybody give me some ideas?

If the ABS light is on there is a fault in the ABS system. It has nothing to do with bthe cruise control.

yup agree with mike there 100% the light comes on to show that their is a problem and the abs system is not working, loadsof reasons for these to come on, with the vehicles I drive itsusually down to wheel sensors being damaged butit can end up being the abs unit or controller, you need to get the sytem read and it should give you an error code and work from there

If the light comes on on startup, goes out after a couple of seconds and stays out until the Jeep starts moving, it's almost certainly a wheel sensor fault, if it doesn't go out at all, wiring or control unit. If the light is on, you have no ABS.It is also an MoT failure.

Thanks guys.
Just got back from holiday in France. The jeep is going back to the garage I bought it from and they are sending it into the dealership here in Aberdeen to sort this and the idling issue out.
