Hi guys,

Now that the first step of my 4X4 adventure is almost complete it's time to start planning for the step two - making it look like the one in the pic bellow:

(Panic Mechanic I hope you don't mind me borrowing your pic?)

I want mine looking just like that - I'm talking wheels, tyres and lift. What are the numbers (lift, wheel, tyre) that give that look?

almost a day and no information.

body lift is a quick and a relatively cheap lift.
suspension is better but more expensive.
combination of both better.
wheels, the common size are 33's (?)
uprated axles allow you to have 35's

only just found this,
the specs on the yj are as follows:
3.5 inch lift kit ( black diamond)
33x12.50x 15 bridgestone Dueller tyre
10" rims
transmission drop kit.

thats all thats fitted to the jeep.
don't mind you using the pic,we all seek inspiration froma variety of places.

Thanks for the replies guys, been looking through this and 4WD forums, a lot of info to take in...

Looks like I'll be going for a 4" lift and maybe 33" tyres. But first have to work out what are the benefits of different lift kits and what will be best for me. I'll be driving on roads but I want it to look like a proper off-roader, I only do low miles around the town... and who knows I might end up doing some off-roading one day.

for yer tj to look like that you are best to go for a 3inch lift and an inch body lift go any higher than that and you will need driveline mods such as a slip yolk eliminator and shaft or you will have problems.

Doesn't the tj have the same suspension as the zg? If so 4" lift dropping the transfer an inch is a piece of piss and no issues with the slip yoke if you get adjustable radius arms

septin the tj rear prop is maybe 2 foot shorter than a zj increasing the angels

the jeep you like the look of is a yj with leaf springs

yours is a tj with coils so completley different. I would suggest a 2" lift and 1" body lift letting you run 31's with lots of flex. Then when ready you can go to the next stage ie, 33's and all the extras that come with them

on a tj 31s and lift are all cheap things to do relativly speakin 33s can be spensive

Despite Birties bein non denomination, it is part of my religous nonsense right as a member of the CJ faith to lead the YJ's (and all new fangled machinery) to the true garden of jeepin eden :mrgreen:

yup. would be cool to see another moded jeep on the scene what ever it is. please feel free to bring yer cj allong to an event and show us all how shit our jeeps are bulldog. ROFL ROFL i recon the best thing to do with yer tj if you aint gonna off road a lot is what bubba said. get some nice chunky 31's and just do a body lift and a budget boost and they look a lot better than stock without costin an arm and a bollock. 8-)

Thanks for the advice guys, I have a busy weekend coming up but will look into it next week. If cheep does the job all the better, it means I can have it looking the way I want it sooner :tonqe:
