Since I have it off atm I'm gonna give it a good wash but it looks rather grey and dull. Can it be made black and shiny again? I was thinking maybe with some shoe polish? Just an idea.....

there used to be a product called `back to black` and you rub it into sunbleached bumpers, Halfords or somewhere similar

I'm sure it's good for plastics but the hard top is painted surface, not sure it's gonna work. I think I have some somewhere lying about. I'll give it try tomorrow. But I doubt it's gonna work.

hard tops tend to have a satin or matt finish anyway,, if you want it shiny then you need to get it lacquered

An old Bronco I owned had a badly faded hard top,got told at the time the only way to cure it was to get it sprayed

Bought a soft top in the end if was less aggro and not much more moola.

Back to black`s a waste of money really,you can do exactly the same thing with a tin of wd40 which is something nearly everyone probably has

Sold it now but my YJ hard top went all dull and then green 'cos I left it in the garden for a while.
It was also rough finish... I sanded it carefully so as not to go through to the gel coat and then 2 coats of filler primer and about 4 of gloss black cellulose. Job done and really nice (Jeep was black as well).
If you don't like shiney shiney go with satin.
Cost about £20 odd inc. thinners. You need access to a spray gun to do it properly and this cheap.
4 hrs work on a hot day outside.

I'll just have to leave it as it is for now and maybe have it sprayed when I have my car sprayed.

B2B is awful stuff - not only does it not work it also rubs off on anything that touches it, so beware!

Got the same prob with a sunbleached black hardtop, have used B2B and WD40, WD 40 was better but still only temp solution. I have been told to use a silicon based polish, will give it a try if I find some.
