Bigger Tyres For XJ
« on: March 28, 2009, 11:51:38 PM »

Hi all

I would like bigger tyres for my 94 XJ HO Limited, currently running 31" Grizzlys.

Ideally i would like 35s thinking boggers or simex or even a combo, wot do you think?

Its a trailered vehicle and i have 6" suspension lift. Dont mind a little trimming but dont want to remove panels, is it possible?

Appreciate any feedback.

I think you would have to re-gear for 35s but open to be corrected

35's = cutback wheel arches, more lift or adjust bumpstops. std dana 35 will need either uprated drive shafts to be safe or swap to dana 44 or ford exploder rear axle. have a look on NAXJA.com for alot more information

Thanks for the info

Do you think gearing will be an issue, i only use off road, not on road at all, so low box only. Im thinking bearing this in mind i will get away without a change of gearing.....................Please correct me if i am completly wrong, wont be the first or last time.

Driveshafts, yeh standard axles (standard apart from lockers front and rear) will be a concern but i think i will prepared to take a punt on this and when not if they break the uprated axles will come.

Keep any advice coming, it all appreciated.

Off road, with 35s on standard gears you're a bit tall geared even in 1LO I would have thought.
