There was a thread on JeepClub about this a while back. I think the consensus was that if you want more articulation, with only a slight difference to the road holding, then you might as well ditch it. The diesels never had 'em anyway.

That was my thinking too. since it looks like it's made out of a straightened coat hanger, I think I'll bin it and see how it goes. I can always stick it back on if it gets too scary on the road. :lol:

both me and trent have thrown ours over the fence and not any diferent, but i dont know how it would fair on the cherries. best thing to do is try it mate.

Made disconnects for mine.....
Undo the bolt that connects the links to the axle brackets
Throw away the nuts
Get a couple of clevis pins
Drill the ends of the bolts to take the clevis pins
Refit the bolt with clevis pin and washer
You can drill a hole in the lip in the bottom of the inner wheel well to park the links when disconnected.

Think I may just try disconnecting it all together and wiring it up out of the way.

If it's fine on the road without, I'll take it off and chuck it.

If not, I'll try the disconnect idea, - cheers for that one Mike!!

Yep, As Greggmo says, not running a rear track bar did'nt notice any real difference, (my RE lift kit even recommended leaving it off :shock:

).
At the front i have left the sway bar disco's off and to be honest i think it feels/drives better!
This is purely a personal thing, try it and see.

Must be the difference between the TJ on coils and the YJ on leafs as I only drove mine with the front disconnected once and never again. scared the crap out of me :shock:

The XJ with the front disconnected just feels like a disco so not a great problem, as its now just a daily drive I have never worried about the rear sway bar.

Ditch it. I've never noticed any difference, we're not talking rally cars here.

When you take it off you'll realise it's less sturdy than a coathanger.

Unless of course you've got a Disco II with ACE (active cornering enhancement), pneumatic rams push anti roll bar backwards & forwards when cornering, works really well and keeps Disco upright...

I must admit that it's some damned impressive technology!!!!

The thought of it going wrong would scare the shit out of me though and as for using one in far away lands where there is no easy parts supply then forget it!!!

Well, I took the rear anti-roll bar off at the weekend. (Along with me rock rails that fell off when I tried to pull me self out from underneath the truck with um!!!! :shock: )

I had me first chance of a good test drive this morning and I have to say I actually think junking it has IMPROVED the handling!! :?
The rear end seems much more stable and power delivery's smoother. I'm assuming it's because the stiffer rear springs had actually made the rear end too stiff with the roll bar in place. Anyway, feels much better now. :lol:

Just gotta, get those disconnects fitted..................
