Howdees
what is the best thing to do
current tyres 235 70 16
do I get at`s to get started on same rims? really perished alloys, dont mind ruining
need to use for mainly motorway, and weekend events
bugdet recently slashed so no lift yet :-(

i stuck 245-70-16 at's on mine and went froading, general grabber at 2's, very good tyres

dont bother with 2 sets, waste of time, we now run muds all the time on the TJ's, no vibes, radio just turned up a bit more :wink:

running these on my xj at the moment all beit 15" size. had them on now for over two years. now worn down to half the thread depth. not loud on the road, good grip in the wet and do perform adequately off road. no issues with them

I run muds and the are noise & vibe free at speed. A decent set correctly balanced will be fine

Stay well clear of remoulds if you like civilised motorway and other road driving - In my opinion just stay well clear all together. Tyres aren't something to save a few quid on, get good ones and they'll last longer, drive better, give you better peformance off road, be safer!, look nicer :mrgreen:

i'm not an advocat of remoulds but they aren't what they used to be. Colways are remoulds and they are the clubman rally choice and track racers used to choose them before they went bust. most of the other tyres are made to BSI stds and carry the E mark which is a requirement for them to be legal to use on the road, so are as good as any other tyre on the road. As for the risk of delaminating the tread which is always at the back of anyones mind when retread is mentioned, the chances of it happening are very slim in this day.

Used to drink in Wem and seeing the state of some of the lads moulding the tyres at 11.30 before a 6am shift ....nuff said....

BFG A/T' are a good pattern and there are reports of 120k out of them but you are paying for a very premium tyre...

My General Grabber AT2 are shed loads better than old spc AT tyres but are only wearing due to roundabouts in the shire...laning no complaints.....

heard good reports about bfg`s, but never heard of the ones above,..
i can`t get to him for 2 weeks now, so they might go, but will have more time to save...
have asked if they are the kinda thing he can get hold of, just pissed i couldn`t make it today

Ive got general grabber AT2's on my Hilux where they've lasted about 30,000 miles and ive also got a set for my Jeep and they are very good off road. I recommend them to everyone if you want a mixed tyre for your vehicle and they must be at least £30 a corner cheaper than the BFG's which i will freely admit are very good tyres as well.
Mud terrains would do my head in with the noise especially on a long journey suppose it all depends how much noise and vibration you can live with and someone better mention the stopping distance of a mud terrain in the wet/ice as well, id rather slam on the brakes with 2 ton of truck with the AT2s anyday.

My tyres might have 6 months left on em so they need doing anyway
