never thought of pics, will see what i can do

stuck on the rear at the mo as i found a dodgy bearing so will replace whilst the shafts are out,but have to order parts :wavefinger:

pics is a good idea mate do a write up will be good for showing the the bearing change .....has one got water damage or just worn

cage holding the rollers is split so they all fell out and the inner race is pitted, the other side has a pick up on the soft sleeve too, looks like its been catching the axle tube.

Prob change both whilst its apart or could just clean up the one side with a file and emery cloth, is lighthouse best place for these bits :?:

the bearing race should have the number on the side so any bearing supplier should bea able to supply you a bearing from that

The shaft bearings in a Jeep D44 are Timken, but are a special for that application so most bearing shops don't stock them.

Just about to write about rear disc brake conversion when I saw your post.... So I'll add to it

Just returned from Northampton with a GC axle for £85 Will be putting parts from this to the YJ (with a TJ 44 on it )
Have known of this conversion for a while but only now got around to it. I needed a fuller parts shopping list.
Try this site for a picture and parts breakdown of a how to... I found it helpful.

As an aside I went Trialing with a bunch of Lardys and Suzis yesterday......... Talk about overkill .... I'm far too wide and have a large turning circle..... and some canes I had only 2" to spare...... Once upon a time I had 31s and a body lift and could beat them..... A question of be careful what you wish for .....or build...... However ........... I can crawl rocks the size of dustbins.... they can't!

Hey there MOCAJ.

I have an SSBC kit to fit, not brand new though, I aquired it second hand. In the kit is a new, not been fitted master cylinder. I have to admit it looks the same as what is already installed. Does yours have a part number on it? just so I can be a pain and cross reference!

Also I have read a lot of people fit the ssbc kit without changing the master cylinder. Anybody know if this a really bad idea or one that works but is more effective with a new one?

no part number on the new m/c but it is much longer and has a bigger reservoir

will post a pic tonight showing you, havn't heard that folks don't change, interesting, saves modding at least one brake pipe :-?

I have the SSBC kit on my YJ, and I haven't changed the master cylinder. No problems whatsoever.
I know the TJs use a different M/C and reservoir, the difference in fluid displacement between drum and disc setup could make a difference?

Just one point, the calipers are a complete bastard to bleed, we ended up unbolting them and flipping them upside down to bleed them. Easy =D>
