yea was getting too good to be true

O/S manifold looks like it may have a small twist in it as its blown the front port again while I was setting the mixture, to make it worse I have allready fitted the fender (which now has to come off again) and then to top it off it started raining so I reversed the CJ back into its parking space in front of the side workshop forgetting I had the tailgate open and the tyre carrier out, result tyre carrier through the workshop door :011:

OK as expected it failed on the exhaust as didn't get time to do em, and have now ordered some better gaskets that should be here by Wednesday, a bit unexpected was it failing on noisy front wheel bearings but then again it has been stood a fair while and for some reason the break lights stopped working, was fine yesterday but decided to fail for the test. only other thing i need to look at is the ball joint on the drag link

with the usual perfect timing the parts arrive the same time as the rain, just in case anyone wondered what a 63 quid set of gaskets looked like

[attachment=1]

they are shinny though :003:

wheel bearings done, one side seemed to be using a grease/mud mix, luckily I did have one set of bearings so new fitted on that side the other cleaned, re-greased and adjusted.

[attachment=1]

as for the exhaust, def needed doing as both sides were blowing, near side no prob fitted and sealed, off side has issues, did fit the copper gasket but still blowing so inspected with wheel and fender off and have found the problem, the down pipe is fouling on the chassis rail before the the flange can seal. have a plan for some cutting and welding tomorrow that should sort it.

time for a bit of rest finnished at 11 and aiming to start tomorrow early

exhaust sorted, ended up cutting off the flange and re welding it at a different angle, down pipe now clears chassis rail, but as is usual in my life I missed one thing on the fail list, nothing major just a steering drag link ball joint now ordered from Lighthouse should be here in time to be fitted for retest Friday, all being well I'll be taking part in the punch challenge at Compton this Sunday :003:
