Tailgates are so last year... cracked mine badly in two places and keep trashing rear lights.... after stripping everything off the back I came up with this which works really well as lights tucked away, standard Cherokee lights, so fog, reverse all there, no wiring changes needed, way better access into hot tub, nice and strong and can be used as a step to climb over hot tub/Jeep, and it cost nothing. happy days indeed.....

All stripped out...

Offered lights up this way....

This way works way better...

Nice wide step

Needs green now....

Yeah I know it doesn't look pretty, but it's more practical, I checked with the MOT rules before I put the lights there, retained the number plate lights and everything.

As for cages etc, yeah great for protection, but they make the vehicle even taller and wider, sometimes they help, other times they don't; they often get branches jammed in them, which rips the bodywork and even the cage off (happened recently to this little SJ). We have a lot of tight lanes that are a struggle for SJ's down this way, Cherokee with 4" lift is still only the same height as a stock SJ on muds... I can sometimes squeeze through when they get caught, the SJ's with SOA really suffer... of course real tight stuff and they slip through.. found this metal post on a green lane recently, bigger SJ's and I had to back out, standard width ones snunk through (see 2nd pic)

Cages etc also cost a lot of money... Cherokee ows me £175 inc the crew cab conversion work... when this one dies I'll transfer the parts onto the next one, panels are for denting....  :greggmo:

Possibly yes, as clearly it's an obstruction, however, it's at the end of an old bridge and if it was cleared then heavy traffic could cause the failure of the bridge, someone could get hurt or worse (fair drop down)... plus the lane backs onto a lot of houses, it's not going to help our hobby using that lane.... it is a metal post filled with concreate so you'd defo meet some locals... so we're not fussed about moving it, we've completed the lane and we have plenty more that need 'proper' clearing that will produce better lanes, here's one we got through yesterday...

Since we had some decent weather I cracked on with green paint.... needed to cover up some scars as through to bare metal, went for matt black bonnet for that old skool yank look, no oil painting, but a bit tidier... will go laing Monday and get some mud and scratches on....

Prepped...

Green, just needs matt black bonnet now...

Happy days in the sun, beers to stay cool...

is that something new as all the kiddies in their saxos and clios like the black bonnets as they can't afford the carbon fibre replacements. we do have a couple driving around with carbon fibre wrap instead  :hysterical:

Not a huge fan of Olive Drab, but in your case, it covers the battle scars nicely
