Yes you can substitute DIII

thank you.

i got some gear oil from halfords and topped up the rear axle [ oil was quite clear so i thought that would be ok to top up, instead of draining it ]

i then managed to top up the transfer case with the Dex 3 , after i found step by step instruction videos on utube.
[ put in about 200ml so hope it wasnt too low to do any damage ]

couldn't get the front axle nut off as my allen key did not fit so leaving that for next weekend.

does anyone know what size allen key it is for the front axle ?

thanks

right i have topped up all the oils and its still not changing up, also the overdrive button dont seem to work either.

it used to increase/reduce the revs when it is switched on/off. any ideas ?

there are any fuses to check ? or is ti something more like gearbox / transfer case prob ?

Is it stuck in 2nd gear? If it is it's usually a pressure sensor inside the transmission at fault. A dsiagnostic scan at a dealer will confirm.

i shift down to 2nd manually and it does change down and when i shift to drive, think it is stuck on 3rd. anyway do you think it is better to have diagnostic ?  and will it show up as an error ?

i dont want to buy the solinoid and it is not that part that's faulty. jeep wants £70 to do a diagnostic !

Thievin' bastards, it takes 5 minutes to plug the machine in and get the codes off. Sneak round the back and offer one of the techs a score to do it. You normally replace the governor pressure sensor and governor pressure solenoid at the same time as it is one of those jobs you don't want to do twice. The transmission is probably in limp mode. If you disconnect the battery it willl clear but probably shut down again pretty soon.

does anyone know why was not working and now is working again ? if it was the sensors,
