been out in the sun again today

97 ready for MOT later this week

Found broken cable in front nearside ( thats the one closest to the pavement for Dutch  :hysterical:) indicators, crimped wire and all ok, adjusted handbrake and whilst cleaning down under spotted play in the propshaft UJ. Luckily had a spare prop so swapped it in, bit of an upgrade too cos this one has greasable UJ,s ( thanks Shep  :greggmo:). Only thing that pissed me off was the stupid clip that holds the gaiter on the prop at the tranfer case end, put the screwdriver thro me finger trying to get it on. Will replace the bastard with a jubilee clip tomoz

Fingers crossed for later in the week  :greggmo:

the sunny workshop has seen some post CF action this weekend

97 had skid removed, front prop removed as strange noise getting worse. took it for a spin, noise still there. checked oil in diff, all ok so stripped out both calipers and cleaned up checking for any play in any joints along the way. Loads of crap in the calipers, was expecting an axle UJ but found some play and grinding in wheel bearing so will change that in the week, got one of them on the shelf

03 had seized caliper yesterday, cleaned out but piston very stiff, needs replacing and i havn't got a spare on the shelf  :icon_sad:will order tomoz
Can we find out who designed TJ front calipers with Bakelite pistons, they need to be shot as once they have got warm they are fooked
ended up cleaning both sides and lubing both trucks suspension
got loads of mud to return to Ribbo too  :icon_biggrin:

you could get some machined out of something else, did think about getting a set made out of machine nylon but never persued it. I did make some stainless pistons for my bike with tuffnal inserts between the pads and the piston which worked well. Don't think that would be suitable for a jeep application

nothing that exciting, change wheel bearing on 97, re-fit front prop

drop skid on 03 and grease double cardon, got birdies, bleed brakes again cos they still spongy

and if i have time tinker with the red one, need it back running
