whatever gearing you end up with a steady 70 will be optomistic, 6" of lift and steering set up will see to that  :jpshakehead:

maybe we should have a sweepstake for charity as to what speed bulldog will bottle it due to instability/vibration?

I will start it off at 76mph (that is genuine speed from a sat nav not as indicated on the now very wrong speedo by the way) although i want Roy Castle or one of those mcwhirters in the cab with him at the time to verify the speed reading please.

the top end speed is not the problem, it's when he needs to stop quickly with 6"s of lift and 37" tyres. the weight transfer on the suspension and the plyability in the tyre walls will show an interesting weave while under heavy braking. Coupled with steering corrections to keep in a straight line. would you want to be the driver or passenger

Got to agree with Dave69................. and that's why you need 1 ton axles a disc conversion at the back, monster servo or powerboost system for the brakes and hydro assist to keep the bugger pointed in the right direction. All doable just need to go shopping for that illusive 1 ton for parts :icon_twisted:

have hydro boost sittin at MJS awaitin placement, and the new axles would have disc all round (D70/80 combo), so stoppin will be half way to safe

All this convinces me external roll cage is the way to go with an optional extra of h/d coil springs fitted to the roof to launch ya backover. :icon_jook:

BD I have no doubt that with your enthusiasm and PhatPhux skills it will be as good as it can get and the envy of many a Birty, my only concern is you may expect too much from the old iron, it is what it is, a 30yr+ truck thats been modded to fuk. no matter how much cash and how many upgrades there is a limit to what it will do

TBH I dont think it will be that modded, just axles, brakes, and a lift

but i really am knakered, i had to do a full day today  :jpshakehead: enthusiasm returns 2mrw

off road I recon it will be a beast and do whatever you want, I was referring to its on road characteristics, big rumpling wagons can give you a false sense of security, I know I've been there
