tri rated cable

http://www.eland.co.uk/documents/Tri-rated%20Cables.pdf

check out its current carrying capacities(at full duty) and then realise how big your cables (and batteries) will need to be to run for any period of time :icon_winkle:

If you want some, i can get you it and stick some crimps on if you want, but it will only be available in black at that sort of size!

Hmmmmm need to read up some more.....

This is interesting, I would say that one problem with your tri rated cable is that the sheath can only withstand up to 105deg c, I would be inclined to go for some of this:

http://www.eland.co.uk/ss/electricalcable/rubberflexiblecable/cable33/0361tq-black-welding-cable-to-bs638.html

or get what Jim supplies:

http://gigglepin4x4-shop.co.uk/epages/eshop343529.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop343529/Products/0-983-15

and don't forget to uprate your alternator cables, and your main earth to chassis

Anyhow, enjoy your winch, they are the nuts, oh and keep your hands well back when using it :icon_eek:

With all due respect the welding cable is only rated to operate up to 85deg c if you read the blurb properly  :003:

I suspect the power cables you are going to need will end up looking as thick as the hydraulic toobs on my Mog winches!

Is this monster for the front of the buggy?

Are you going to have to create more 'real estate' to mount it?

Looks good tho.

About a grand cheaper than a full bling Gigglepin...........nice one :icon_twisted:

The Gwyn Lewis mount seems a bargain. Most of us couldn't buy the steel, do the welding and punt it out for a profit for that amount.

Well at least I couldn't...................but then I am very slow.

So Gigglepin upping their prices.............................. so will they get the business..............??????

Me..........................I am keeping it ghetto..................Bowmotor 5hp to replace theh vintage 2.5hp............see where we go from there :icon_twisted:

If your needing a hand with shipping from Ireland to the UK I'm more than willing to assist seeing as you lot on the other side did it for me, Irishgroupage were ok but I have found a better crowd Translandgroup.com, they were half the price and much more professional, everything was over the internet and picked up and dropped off in 2 days, I can even put it on a pallet if its not already on one, let me know if you need assistance.

This is indeed good news - are you close to Clarecastle Co.clare? I believe the weigh and dimension's are 80cm x 45 cm x 50cm
75kg

Let me see if my contact here comes up with the goods first - will let you know.

Cheers.

Yep thats what I got; picked up last night.
After a look over & bench test all seems ok; its missing the freespool handle.
I plan to clean it up give it a clean up per the guide on Pirate.

Will need a tray although its come with the one of the recovery truck which may form the basis!
