Greggmo has finally fitted my JKS "quicker dis-connects".

Technical hitch: passenger side disconnect won't!

It is hitting the bracket of the steering stabiliser and won't swing up.

Any ideas :?: :?:

Have you tried running without the ARBs altogether I did it with my cherry and yes you had to be careful cornering quick it was not a great problem day to day.

On the XJ never had any probs disconnecting/reconnecting. When Mark modified the steering on the TJ he also raised the Axle Sway Bar Brackets, see some of the photos in my personal album (just posted a close up shot). You may need to do something similar.

stew mate the disconects are jks and they are adjustable in length so lift is not realy any problem they do some that go with upto a 6 inch lift i think. if you aint got dosconects ya should have, they make a real difference.

Leave the nut undone on the shaft of the disconnect, that way you can get a bit more twist and it should be ok....get a file out and just take the corner of the bracket off too, just round the square edge off a bit...helps slip the buggers off.

I run a 4" lift and when keeping them out the way (can't find anywhere decent to put storage pins) I now run a piece of 1/2" stainless bar that goes over the chassis and through both discos...works perfect but I've not seen anyone else doing it. Cable ties aren't up to it in my opinion.

Had no probs when running a 2" lift as disco lengths where shorter and sat on storage pins perfectly....changed mine from Ali to stainless too....well handy having an engineering company.

I bought my disconnects from Ebay and i paid £10 more than the opening bid on the ones on ebay now but mine were brand new,but im sure theyre still cheaper from the states

Manda`s disconnects are now sorted-been there today,hammer and all.A bit of gentle persuassion and job done :twisted:

The mighty Greggmo says they are good for a 6" inch lift

The ones Mick found on e bay are good for 2"

Im thinking of a 2.5" lift if I do

My dis-connects are indeed now sorted. Thanks to Mick's "gentle pursasion" with a large metal implement on the end of a wooden stick.

Just dug this thread up from the archives.

Fitted me JKS and some new poly bushes at the same time, thought it was the new bushes that was making it a bit tight to disconect.

Have give em a week to loosen up but,

seems a common problem, so do you take the big hammer to

1) the steering stabiliser bracket or

2) the mounting pin

I think the latter is the obvious, but dont want to get too gung ho and do something drastic. :banghard:

Stew - JKS specs as follows:-

Model number 2000 fits '84 - '01 XJs with 2"-3.5" of lift, or TJs with 0"-2" lift.

Model number 2001 fits '84 - '01 XJs with 4"-6" of lift, or TJs with 2.5"-6" lift.

Model number 2002 fits '84 - '01 stock XJs

mocaj, are we talkin about the passenger side? if so just stick a peice of heavy pipe over it and tweek it towards the front of the truck this will clear the steering stabaliser. if they are just hard to get off and on just wind the nut off a bit so you take some of the tension off the anti roll bar.

When you say slacken the nut, do you mean on the mounting pin or on the sway bar bush bracket thingys that bolt into the chassis. :?
