Another CRD with issues
« on: December 20, 2011, 02:03:15 PM »

Mother in Laws 2003 WJ CRD is stuck in limp home mode, it has done this a couple of times over the last few months but they ignored it and when turned off and on it was ok.

Now it is in limp home mode max 30mph and wont come out of it.

I am at work so havent had a go at re setting the codes but will do later on my ODBII.

Nat has done the key code finder and got P1130 to do with the 02 sensors, which I cannot see been linked personally but maybe you will say otherwise.

Cheers all.

P1130 is not O2 sensor, it is fuel rail pressure sensor. Does not necessarily mean you have a fault with that sensor as I have the same fault code. But the sensor has checked out ok. Mine had a prob that causes the motor to die on wide open throttle. I think this momentarily causes the rail presure to rise causing that fault code.

Yet to find the real cause....see my post!!

Use below link for fault code meanings for jeeps and wjjeeps.com for loads of WJ info

Got that link saved on my phone!!

But couldn't see P1130 so googled it.

Yes I have seen your post, does the CRD have a Throttle position sensor?

I only ask as I had mine (V8) failed and it would cut out as yours is?

Surprising really, in my case the gearbox wasn't talking properly with the rest of the truck.

Two coffee's, a car wash, scan & download for £32 squids.

Had that problem with mine earlier this year and it turned out to need a Auto Gearbox ECU unit.  At friends garage used the DRB unit and then tried another ECU from another car prior to putting the new one on worked since , but dont tell the jeep .

Well, they ended up going to Kings Jeep Cheltenham and Gloucetser as Wolovo couldnt get them in.

Looks like the Transmission Control Unit is goosed. So Jeep want £700plus to sort it out.

Had a look on ebay and no used ones about that I can see, loads for a V8.

Carlos doesnt have any either, so the search continues.

Thats the part i had replaced on mine, (467.34 + vat from the dealer) as dealer supply only. But had a bill from auto elect of £150. for sourcing the problem. Have the old one stuck on the shelf in the garage going to dismantle and see what little is inside.

Yes I recall you having the problem as well. No way around it I guess, was yours plug and play?

Yes plug and checked with the DRB machine and fine. But we did also try one from another jeep to confirm it was that part.

They are struggling with the cost at main dealer. Mother in laws partner hasn't worked for 12months and money tight.

2nd hand one more than likely may have same problem and still may need main dealer to check with the DRB thingy.

Any ideas Kev, spending £500 plus just isn't an option for them at the moment. Its not like we can lend it them at the moment as I need the scooby funds for its replacement.

Yes the part is nearly £500 plus vat, and I would fit it.

Hence thinking of trying a second hand one. I put a used gearbox ECU on mine when I was trying to fault find.

How much does the dealer DRB reconfig cost??
