After many years I would like to build a new cage for my jeep but I have quite a few questions. Currently I just have the stock rear roll bar with a front hoop added that passes down through the dash where it is tied into the floor with large plates and brackets to the rock sliders.

I would like to keep it simple and not look like Spider Man attacked the Jeep. I also want to keep it inside the jeep and under the top.

From what I can understand and please correct me if I am wrong. If I eventually start to keep in any challenge events it will need to be MSA approved.

Where do I find a set of MSA rules?
Who does the appoval and what does it take?
What material are people using and who is selling it. Mine is 1.75" 4130 tubing
What benders are available in the UK? I would like something similar to a JMR bender if possable.

Before anyone asks the attached picture is not my jeep. I couldn't afford the all the fancy stickers!

IOM is spot on. When i get home , i'll dig out the right section, it could be part k... Mine is 45 mm cds and the tube is purchaseable from ppcages. Or 48 x 3 mm bluband is accepted

I had one of the awdc area reps build my msa cage, this was built for trials so might be a different spec for challenge events

One thing I came up against with having the cage internal and one reason I went exo, is that if you have a brace above your head, depending on your height you might keep banging your head on it, especially with a crash helmet..

Degree handle £21.20
4.5 die for 1 1/4 tube £211.20
6.5 die for 1 3/4 tube £271

Had to sell a few things to get this so hope its worthwhile in the longrun

Would reccomend using this though:

Makes all your bending a breeze, while slurping your glass of Merlot.

Has several defualt shapes in the program, that'll give you ideas.

CD Tube gives you a workout when bendung manually.

Just as a note; the Protools dies dont fit the the JD2 benders.........I found out the hardway

effin door module not what everyone elses prob is like a loose wire oh effin no....... still...... hot wired the window so can keep weather out may just fit switch for window and be done with it....

EZ 3D is all i got, you punch in die details etc and it calculates the bend locations etc. It works well, but take a little bit of get use too. On JJ's cage we probably wasted a couple of sticks of tube.....But with some creativeness, redeemed it for something else

EZ 3D seems to be the one, the other simple one is just for stuff in 2d.soon tire of that

Just been trying to find a switch in my junk to hotwire the window as a permanent fix.......

bloody overengineered computer junk....... battery .wire.switch..motor.....tis done.

Just booked with mates harwich- esjberg.... then scandinavian bits...end of June..hope it aint pissing....or we'll head south

Something you may want to get is a Digital angle finder and a way to secure to the tube. This proved very usefull....Makes angular movement easy.

I've got a magnetic anglefinder useful for prop angles and stuff but will only sit along tube not acros it...looks like the spend is not over

Ok, I have found the Pro Tools benders in the UK are supplied by Stakesy's.

So the next question, who supplies 4130 tubing in the Uk?

I found these guys online also, website is a bit rubbish and anything to do with airplanes sounds scary expensive. The local steel people still have not come back to me yet so hopefully I will hear from them soon.
