Help please on aw4 tech info
« on: March 19, 2014, 07:47:15 PM »

Right people I'm having an adapter built for behind my aw4, the only issue the engineer is having is identifying the output shaft. We know it's 23 spline and we know it's OD. The guy has asked for anymore I can find out. I believe he is unsure weather it's straight cut or not.

Do any of you guys have any specs etc

Time is ticking away for getting the car ready so,  many thanks in advance

Danny

The problem seems to be that the walls of the spline are hard to identify, by that I mean weather they are square or not

All the splines I recall have been square top, but I'm 90% on this.

Been almost 5 years since I have built anything for off road use, so my memory could be fuzzy!!

Neal jones at red winch is making the adapter for me, he is just struggling to identify the spline spec.

Thanks Dave

Probably one that can be mass produced using a one off tool made just for that one job. :003:

What a big help you are Dave!!

Not my fault that he has taken it elsewhere in the country when there are local engineers who would have the know how and possibly even the tooling :icon_rolleyes:

Anyway why dont you just make him one out of wood? :wave-fingersmiely:

Wanker... Wood is a inappropriate material for making output shafts for aw4's.it Only used for making Isuzu stereos and Windows!  And the odd fence.  But I could fashion one out of silly putty if that could help.. Do we need wally the spray painting walrus to make a appearance and teach you the differences between wood and metal/silly putty?
