98 GC Coolant loss from bottom hose at the engine mount

Morning everyone, Tow bar on now, but sprung a coolant leak.

It seems to be running down the bottom coolant hose and dropping off onto the cowling under it. Has anyone else had this?

I'm thinking it could just be a poor seal around the engine mount part of this hose but rang a local jeep parts place and the hose is £58!!!

I'm thinking about seeing if a jubilee clip instead of the spring clip will cure it but if not and I have to change the hose has anyone any tips about the easiest wasy to do it? Theres not a lot of room at the top mount there!

Yep, those hoses cost a bomb. They're shaped and have springs inside to stop them deforming. Halfords do various width and length hoses with spring reinforcement, and they ain't 58 quid!

hmmm....might not be the hose. I've been advised there is a weep hole in the casing of the water pump that will leak fluid when the inner seals fail. going to check this out later. Can anyone advise what problems I need to look out for removing the pump. there seems to be a lot of kit to remove to take it out etc.

try the hose clips first  but it does sound like the water pump is on its way out maybe. not too bad a job mate. 8-)

its only ever gonna fry your engine if you let it over heat but this should never happen in a motor with a temp gage...unless ya cant read one that is :roll:

Haven't got time to do it myself so booked it into Mansfields 4X4 at Manningtree to sort it.

On a plus note....nearly finished bracket fabrication for my side bars and just picked up bull bars

Afternoon all,

Just n case any was wondering, was the water pump, bearings and seals had gone. Changed over today by the friendly chaps at Mansfields 4X4 Jeep in Manningtree. No more wazzing on the drive for my Jeep!!!!
