doesn't it depend on who's pointing out what hill to go up ?

lifted highly modded trucks do not go fast, i'd put 50 mph as an upper speed limit. plus fuel economy will dictate top end speed.

the mods you are doing are in response to the lift you intend and the wheel size you want to fit. but with the added compliance of the longer suspension springs and the height of the tyre side walls there is alot of weight of the truck wanting to move around on these two major bendy components. add speed and an emergancy stop into the pot and that forward energy has to go somewhere and that will be trying to turn the truck to the left or right by compression of the suspension and side rolling of the front tyres. you can correct this by steering in the opposite direction but remember when you relase the brakes the now compressed energy will be unloaded and the truck will then steer in the direction of the now pointing steering wheel resulting in driving off the road or something else.

were not saying stop what your doing but you have to realistically think that motorway speeds in the bstard might be a thing of the past and left to something more conventional and normal

seriously tho, we all have our quirks, be it mindy, xj, or old iron, I dont expect much of it on the road, altho admittedly the Chief may well have given me higher expectations, im only really buildin the Bastard for offroad/lanes and travelling in between (hence the 2wd & overdrive kit), and it keeps developin coz i say summink and u lot go 'ooooooh no missus, dont do that', so then i try to find a solution, and if it works out Mr H may have offered a v good one, coz the gearing is already done, they have discs all round, and i will make money back by selling on my D44's, and the 401 and mud wont bust them

so it in theory looks good, but the wheels/tyres could be a prob

admittedly 50mph will suck, but realistically leavin it on 35's with the currents axles, what would the m/way crusin speed be?

bd. put the boots on it that you want. if you break it then upgrade it as and when you do break it. seen some serious boots on even a 35axle with horses thrown down it and lasted very well. just get the thing workin first and use it till you need to upgrade it. hell its fun to bust stuff. its how you learn what you do need and whats just a waste of cash. if you spent enough money you could turn a ford fiesta into a challenge truck but dont that miss the point a bit. i am actualy takin stuff of my cj to make more of a challenge to my drivin abillity off road. if ya wanna just drive every trail and never get stuck buy a cheap old tractor. they cheap man. just get the thing workin and have some fun i say. you would give up before the pickup would anyway. trust me.
